COURSE DESCRIPTION

WELCOME TO BULGARIAN FOR ADULTS – LEVEL 1A &1B

This course is developing written and oral skills needed for a Bulgarian Language Learner. It focuses on vocabulary development, reading, listening comprehension, speaking, and pronunciation skills. Vocabulary is focused on family, adjectives, body parts, daily routines, things you like to do, careers and the future.  Grammar instruction includes adjectives, present progressive, present and pass tense verbs, adverbs, homophones, interrogative words, and future tense. This course contributes to skills needed in authentic experiences.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Come to Class Prepared!

All reading assignments must be completed prior to coming to class.  Additional readings, video clips, and other optional materials are highly recommended.  Students are expected to participate in discussions and class activities.  Students who have not completed the readings will not be able to do so in an informed manner.  This will affect their participation purpose.

Location Bulgarian School of Seattle at Stroum Jewish Community Center
Class duration September 18, 2016 – May 28, 2017
Class times 9:30 am. – 11:30 am. every Sunday for the duration of the class

Attendance Policy

This is the standard Bulgarian School of Seattle policy.  It can be amended by the instructor as needed.

Attendance is mandatory for all periods of an in-class offering. Attendance means the physical presence of the student in the classroom.  Students who cannot attend a scheduled class due to extenuating circumstances can make prior arrangements with the instructor.  In that case the instructor may provide alternative activities.

Mixed-Mode Classes – Attendance for designated in-class meetings is mandatory for all periods of a mixed-mode-class offering.

On-line Classes – Students are required to participate weekly in on-line classes on a schedule as designated by the instructor.  This includes participating in on-line discussions and activities, as well as reading all lessons, announcements, and other portions of the course.  The work is dependent on the active participation of the students.
